The University is founded by the USSR Ministers’ Counsel Decree from 09 March 1971 №156 on the basis of Chechen-Ingush Pedagogical Institution of the Ministry of Enlightenment RSFUR as Chechen-Ingush State University that by the order of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Higher Education from 28 February 1995 №9-4 is renamed as Chechen State University.
